It's my first trip. Where do I start??

I started writing this as an email, and then realized this is way too much information for that.  tl:dr- Disney Deciphered and Touring Plans Ch- ch- changes:  If you want help with logistics, don’t bother with anything older than 2022. Older sources will have good information about resorts and attractions, but restaurant and logistics info is very outdated. Even since last year.  Mouse Savers  has the best introduction to the Disney and Florida parks. If you're not sure what parks are part of WDW, this is where to start.  Disney Deciphered  is my favorite basic planning podcast. Pre-pandemic every episode was great for a newbie. Now they're a little more in-depth, but still great.  Some of this episode is outdated, but the bit about researching attractions to decide your priorities is still good.  Tips for Disney World First Time Visitors - Disney Deciphered Visiting Disney World can be very overwhelming, especially for first time visitors. How Do I Plan This Trip?

May 2020 note: I don't know when I started this post, but because I don't have other things to do, I'm going to go ahead and publish it. Who knows? Maybe at the end of all of this, Disney Parks will no longer exist. I did check all of the links, and everyone is still publishing information, so here's my opinion. Do with it as you will. How Do I Plan This Trip  or Disney Planning Is Goofy! See what I did there?  Disney is not a fly by the seat of your pants and go where the mood takes you trip. Let me say that again for the people in the back. Disney trips require planning . I totally get that your idea of vacation is sleeping in, and flying by the seat of your pants. In that case, maybe Disney isn't the trip for you. I know people who plan a trip quickly (within a few weeks) and have a lovely time. We'll come back to that. The people who tell me they were miserable or hated it or will never go back didn't plan. F'reals.  ...

Which Park is Best?

Which park is better is the golden ticket, meaning of life, $64,000 question and I have the definitive answer for you. The answer is.... Yes.  All of the Disney Parks are best. All of them. They're all wonderful in their own way. They all have their downsides too. But they're all wonderful.  Disneyland (DLR) and Disney California Adventure (DCA)Parks in Anaheim California: -I love Disneyland. It opened in 1955 and you can practically still feel Walt walking through the park with you. -It's small. Both parks combined are something like 1 square mile (Florida is 47 square miles). Yes, you can see the Matterhorn from anywhere in DLR, you can see Thunder Mountain from Pirates of the Caribbean. It's ok. Really it is. -You can stay off property and walk to the parks. The resort hotels in CA are ridiculously expensive. Like a cheap room is $350. No thanks. Stay literally across the street for $160 and get free waffles out of the deal. I was a WDW snob and I didn...

You Asked My Opinion

The earlier days of this blog were for my fund raising for Team in Training. I just read through them and thought they weren't all that bad, and I liked the reminder of how hard I worked for that goal, so I'm leaving them up. They're only related to Disney in that I ran races at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. I'm a big ol' Disney-phile. This causes me guilt. The world is a pile of poop, and I like to spend time and money visiting a people trap created by a mouse. Logically, I know I shouldn't feel guilty unless I spend my kids' college funds on Disneyland Hong Kong (Disney Sea, maybe, but not Hong Kong), but I do feel guilty. I have friends who give me crap about it, (Perhaps they're not really friends, I don't give them crap about their ridiculous picky eating). I realize I am beyond blessed to be able to go as often as I have. I realize I'm beyond blessed to be knowledgeable enough to have opinions. Anyway.  I'm pretty knowledgeabl...
